Are you planning a destination wedding? Perhaps you are holding your wedding on a beach?
There are as many responses to that question as there are couples tying the knot. Some want that perfect sunset that only Mother Nature can provide, and others see it as a way to combine a wedding and perfect vacation for their friends and family. Whatever motivations have led you to a beach wedding, you will need to consider a few things that a traditional indoor wedding doesn’t think twice about.
When you decided to have your wedding on the beach, you may or may not have had a particular place in mind. Some considerations are important if you know immediately where you want to wed, or if you have no idea, except that there has to be water and sand. In every case, you will either need to do a few field trips to scout out locations yourself, or rely on the opinion on a beach wedding planner.
Beach wedding in Sri Lanka can be much more affordable than a traditional wedding. Often times, a couple can fly to an all-inclusive resort in Sri Lanka, get married, and stay for a four-star week long honeymoon for just a few thousand dollars. Today beach weddings in Sri Lanka are becoming more and more common and their popularity is growing, not only among the locals but with foreigners as well.
Selecting a hotel for beach weddings in Sri Lanka
There are plenty of hotels near the beach so you have plenty of options available to you. Sometimes having too many options is also a bad thing, here are few things you should look for when selecting a hotel for a beach wedding.
Having a well maintained and beautiful looking garden is a great help when you want to take photos of the most memorable day of your life. You also need to make sure that there is enough beach area to have a decent ceremony. In some areas of the island the sea is very close and you don’t have a good enough beach for a wedding.
There are some extra things you can do to make it really special and truly Sri Lankan. One of the things tourist love the most is taking pictures of the wedding couple on top of an Elephant. It is also considered good luck to walk under the belly of the Elephant.
Another thing to look for is the cost; usually they are cheaper than a normal wedding package. But if you are a tourist some hotels will try to charge you extra, so it is good to do some research and compare prices before contacting a suitable hotel.
Most countries have their own laws and often a couple will have to get a wedding license. If you are a tourist who is looking to get married in Sri Lanka then you should be aware of the laws regarding marrying in Sri Lanka. If you are not sure it is a good idea to check with the embassy, since there are many tourist marriages I doubt there is a complicated process. It is also important that each couple is aware of the passport regulations and ensure that theirs are valid prior to them flying to the Island. Of course an invalid passport could mean that you are not allowed entry into the country and that is an extremely embarrassing situation, isn’t it?
